More troubles for Canadian TAPV
The Canadian Army’s troubled Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle (TAPV) has run into more technical issues and delivery of the first vehicle is now 22 months behind schedule, Shephard has learned.
A second round of qualification trials – known as reliability, availability, maintainability and durability (RAMD) testing – had to be halted in September 2015 because of a ‘technical concern’, a Department of National Defence (DND) spokesperson said.
This follows the suspension of initial RAMD tests in 2014 when design problems were identified with the 4x4 vehicle’s structure, suspension and steering. The programme had to return to the contract design phase
