Missile manufacturers eye hypersonic capability demand
Two of the largest US-based manufacturers of guided missile systems have pointed to hypersonic missile capabilities as a growth opportunity in 2018.
Raytheon and Lockheed Martin’s fourth quarter 2017 results suggest geopolitical instability and concerns over territorial sovereignty will continue drive global demand for enhanced missile defence capabilities.
Raytheon secured a number of significant contracts across its missile portfolio in 2017, with customers in Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, but highlighted hypersonics as defining the next generation of advance missile systems.
