Meritor suspension selected for Lockheed Martin JLTV bid
Meritor has announced that it has been selected to supply Lockheed Martin with its ProTec High Mobility Independent Suspension (HMIS) for integration into the company’s Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) vehicle programme bid. The company made the announcement 27 August 2012.
Last week it was announced that the Lockheed Martin team's military vehicle was one of three vehicles selected to advance to the next round of the US Army and US Marine Corps JLTV programme. Along with AM General and Oshkosh Corporation, Lockheed Martin was awarded an Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) contract for the programme, which aims to develop a vehicle with advanced payload, performance and protection to support warfighters.
According to Meritor, the ProTec Series 30 HMIS is engineered for extreme environments. It is an advanced technology solution that was developed for the JLTV programme, providing ‘outstanding off-road maneuverability and premium ride quality’.
Dave Damian, director, sales and business development, Meritor Defense, said: ‘With more than 100,000 miles of testing, the performance of the ProTec HMIS has been proven during the Technology Development phase of the JLTV programme. Our team began developing the ProTec Series 30 for the JLTV in 2005 and has been dedicated to providing the best possible solution for our warfighters’.
