Malaysia to stand up new army units in Sabah
Malaysian Defence Minister Ismail Sabri announced on 11 September that the Malaysian Army would establish a brigade headquarters, armoured regiment, three infantry battalions, three artillery regiments and an army aviation squadron in the East Malaysian state of Sabah to beef up security there.
He stated that 32 Brigade Headquarters will be established at Kalabakan along with brigade support units, and a Border Regiment battalion will be established at Tawau. Without elaborating further, it is known that brigades numbered in the 30 serial are Border Regiment brigades.
