LAAD 2015: Brazil-made Gladiador II makes first appearance
Brazilian corporate group Grupo Inbra Filtro has unveiled an updated version of its Gladiador 4x4 armoured vehicle at this year’s LAAD exhibition in Rio de Janeiro.
The VBMT-LR Gladiador II now features upgraded armour with NATO STANAG 4569 Level 2 ballistics protection and Level 2A standard floor protection.
Overall vehicle weight stands at 9.2t, compared with 6.2t for the original Gladiador vehicle.
Alterations to the vehicle’s specifications were mostly driven by a change in requirements from the Brazilian armed forces, explained José Carlos Sampaio Alves, business director at Grupo Inbra Filtro.
