ADEX 2017: Korea exhibits smart pistol
Busan-based S&T Motiv unveiled a new 9mm ‘Smart Gun’ capable of identifying the shooter’s identity and which saves information regarding the angle of fire, direction and GPS position via a ‘smart module.’
The configuration on display was a revolver. The pistol was part of the company’s overall defence products exhibited at last week’s Seoul ADEX, held from 17-22 October.
The gun fires three types of ammunition: non-lethal rubber bullets, standard 9mm rounds and blank rounds.
Seoul-based ammunition manufacturer Poongsan Corporation produces the bullets and Verasys developed the ‘smart module,’ said Shawn An, manager of public relations at S&T Motiv.
