Japan reveals future tech in symposium
The Acquisition Technology and Logistics Agency held a technology symposium in Tokyo on 15-16 November to highlight various Japanese military research projects.
The Ground Systems Research Centre (GSRC) is developing the Lightweight Combat Vehicle (LCV), a 6x6 vehicle with superior air-portability for the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force (JGSDF). Two types are in development, an armed version and a protected version.
The LCV will have the same level of firepower (a 105mm gun) and protection as the 8x8 Manoeuvre Combat Vehicle (MCV) that is due to enter service early in 2017. Like the MCV, two examples could be transported per C-2
