Improved Armis 6x6 makes its public debut
Arquus displayed its new-look Armis 6x6 logistics vehicle on 17 September during a demonstration day at the Satory test facility.
Developed with support from Volvo, Armis 6x6 features COTS technologies on a military chassis with ‘very high performance levels, both in terms of payload and off-road mobility’, Arquus claimed in a 21 September statement.
Armis 6x6 features an 11-litre Euro V engine developing 460hp, which allows it to clear 50% ramps. The powerplant is close in performance to that used on the Jaguar EBRC, meaning that Armis 6x6 can ‘accompany the latest generation of combat vehicles on the battlefield’, the company noted.
The gearbox with Ultra-Low Crawler option enables Armis 6x6 to stop safely on slopes, while a brake assist feature saves attrition on the main brakes while climbing steep slopes.
The modular, air- and rail-transportable vehicle is suitable for ‘long deployments, complex missions and harsh environments with reduced maintenance requirements’, according to the manufacturer.
A wide range of logistical and tactical missions can be fulfilled, including the transport of troops, cargo, equipment or 10/15ft (3.05-4.6m) shelters.
Armis 6x6 is available without armour protection or with a STANAG 4569-compliant ballistic, mine and IED-protected cabin.
The vehicle ‘can be integrated into the Scorpion bubble and is designed to accommodate the latest-generation communication and information systems’, Arquus added. The cabin is equipped with software to manage a BMS or RWS such as the Arquus Hornet range.
