Eurosatory: Hanwha, CMI to produce turret shells
Hanwha Defense Systems has received a contract from CMI Defence for the supply of around 200 painted open turret shells of Cockerill 3000 Series weapon systems, CMI Defence announced on 14 June.
Deliveries of the turret shells are expected to begin from late 2016 and run until early 2020. The contract relates to a multi-year contract awarded to CMI Defence in 2014. This contract covers the delivery of several gun turret systems from CMI Defence's Cockerill 3000 Series. It also covers embedded and virtual immersive simulation systems as well as support and training services for system handling and maintenance.
Jean-Luc Maurange, president, CMI Defence, said: ‘To complete our French- and Belgian-based manufacturing facilities, CMI Defence entrusted the manufacturing of some 200 painted opens shells of Cockerill 3000 Series to Hanwha Defense Systems. This operation is a result of the privileged strategic partnership set up between both companies in 2015.’
Hyunwoo Shin, president and chief executive officer, Hanwha Defense Systems, said: ‘I would like to thank CMI Defence for hosting this signing ceremony and for providing this contract opportunity based on our strategic partnership. After several years of developing this partnership, I believe that this contract will mark the start of long journey of business success together. The recent acquisition by Hanwha Group boosts and enhances this partnership and collaboration. We will continue to advance down this path.’
