Germany reactivates howitzers
The German army is reactivating 12 PzH 2000 armoured howitzers this year.
It is taking this move as one of the measures to improve the Bundeswehr's territorial defence capabilities and its ability to meet its NATO collective defence commitments amid the deteriorating security situation in eastern Europe.
The reactived PzH 2000s will join the 89 currently in service with the German army. The first of the reactivated PzH 2000s arrived in Munster, northern Germany, at the end of 2016 and will be joined by the others during the course of 2017.
