Australia receives first LRIP Hawkeis
In late March, a regular unit of the Australian Army received a batch of low-rate initial-production (LRIP) Thales Hawkei Protected Mobility Vehicles - Light (PMV-L) plus associated trailers.
The receiving unit was the 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (1 RAR) based at Lavarack Barracks in Townsville, Queensland. It took delivery of 13 vehicles in the first batch, with a total of 34 expected.
This battalion of the 3rd Brigade will perform an operational test and evaluation with the 7t Hawkei vehicles, which will then inform the initial operational capability of the PMV-L.
