Elbit Systems to unveil at Eurosatory 2010: EoShield - VIRCM (Vehicle IR Countermeasure) system for protection against anti-tank ground missiles
Elbit Systems will launch EoShield, a Vehicle IR Countermeasure system, at the upcoming Eurosatory exhibition in Paris. A "soft protection" system against anti-tank ground missiles, EoShield disrupts second generation anti-tank missiles and provides a 360-degree protection shield for a wide variety of vehicular, platforms.
EoShield is a vehicular addition to the Company's airborne IR Countermeasure portfolio consisting of the MUSIC system, a multi-spectral infrared countermeasure that protects military aircraft and helicopters from shoulder-launched missiles; and the C-MUSIC system, a commercial derivative of the military MUSIC system, which was selected for use by Israel's national carriers.
EoShield operates continuously, without the need for any intervention of the platform's crew. The system is extremely cost effective as it does not require connectivity to Missile Warning Systems (MWS). It can be interfaced within a comprehensive defense array, including additional threat detection systems or be operated as a stand-alone system on the platform.
Operating continuously and concurrently, the system can disrupt threats from various sources. It is characterized as a cost effective, low profile and signature system that can be easily integrated with any platform, while maintaining low power consumption levels. The system is fixed, with no moving parts, thus providing high reliability.
