Denel announces Casspir deal
South Africa’s Denel has signed a long-term agreement with the UN to provide the Casspir mine-resistant armoured vehicles.
Ashley Williams, general manager of subsidiary Denel Mechem told Shephard that the agreement was signed in December 2015 and includes the supply of several mine-protected variants.
‘This included delivery of ten Casspir personnel carriers equipped with special mine roller attachments to be used in clearing landmines and unexploded ordnance,’ he said.
Williams added that this would be followed in due course with deliveries of Mechem’s 6x6 Casspir Stallion vehicles and other special variants. The Casspir Stallion is a recovery vehicle based on
