AMRAAM-ER gets firing
Live-fire trials of the AMRAAM-ER missile will take place in the coming months following the extensive testing and validation of the system, according to Cesar Rodriguez, director of business strategy for Raytheon Air Warfare Systems.
Declining to disclose a specific timetable for the live-fire Rodriguez said the development, with partners Kongsberg, included integration of the newly launched NASAMS fire distribution centre (FDC) and wider system to accommodate the larger missile. NASAMS currently uses AIM 120 AMRAAM missiles.
‘We will conduct a live-fire campaign and then re-validate [the system]. A telemetry qualification shot for the AMRAAM-ER [will be performed], followed shortly
