Bids due for relaunched Danish artillery competition
Elbit, Nexter and Samsung Techwin are expected to register their interest by 9 February in competing for a contract, potentially worth $145 million, to supply the Danish Army with up to 21 new 155mm/52cal self-propelled howitzers (SPH).
The three companies were shortlisted in a previous competition to supply the army with new artillery systems to replace its 12 remaining tracked M109A3 SPHs in service since 1965. But this was cancelled on 30 April 2015.
At the time the MoD said halting the project was necessary to free funds for the repair or replacement of a Royal Danish Air Force AgustaWestland
