BAE Systems to provide Bradley engineering upgrades under $34m contract
BAE Systems has received a $34 million contract modification in support of engineering enhancements and technological updates for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, one of the strongest vehicles in the Army in providing protection and safety to soldiers.
"This work demonstrates the importance of supporting life cycle management and why we significantly invest in our Readiness and Sustainment capabilities," said Joe McCarthy, vice president and general manager of the Heavy Brigade Combat Team for BAE Systems. "Bradleys are high performing, survivable vehicles and these types of engineering enhancements keep them operating to their maximum potential for our soldiers."
Bradley Combat Systems continue to provide outstanding survivability, mobility and lethality to US soldiers in combat. The battle-proven Bradley fulfills five critical mission roles - infantry fighting vehicle, cavalry fighting vehicle, fire support vehicle, command vehicles and engineer squad vehicle - for the US Army's Heavy Brigade Combat Teams.
The engineering enhancements under the contract award include:
* Improved digital architecture
* Embedded maintenance training
* Integrated survivability improvements
The majority of the work will be performed at the BAE Systems operations in Santa Clara, California and is anticipated to be completed in December 2011.
This contract modification was awarded by the US Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command.
