BAE to suspend howitzer production
Production of the 155mm M777 howitzer system at BAE Systems’ plant in Barrow in the UK is to be suspended, according to an official announcement.
In a statement on 16 October, the company blamed ‘on-going delays in the US Government Foreign Military Sales [FMS] of 145 M777s howitzers to the Government [of] India’. It stated that unless the orders materialise, the plant would not continue production.
