AUSA Winter: US budget pressure continues

There has been a 21% decline in the US defence budget since 2010 and it ‘will continue to decline’, Heidi Shyu, assistant secretary of the army (acquisition, logistics and technology) has warned.

Speaking at the AUSA Winter 2014 exhibition, Shyu said that in FY2012 they had expected $152 billion for 2014 and instead received only $122 billion. This had led to a reduction in the readiness of the army.
