AUSA Global 2019: Lockheed Martin ramps up rocket production
Lockheed Martin’s rhetoric at AUSA Global Force was an emphasis on increasing production of a number of its weapon systems and this was proven as the US Army awarded the company a $1.3 billion contract for Lot 14 production of Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) on 27 March.
A company spokesperson said that the GMLRS is now heading towards a total production of ’10,000 a year’.
This latest contract calls for the production of more than 9,500 GMLRS Unitary and Alternative-Warhead (AW) rockets, more than 300 Low-Cost Reduced-Range Practice Rockets (RRPRs) and integrated logistics support.
