AUSA 2015: US handgun contenders
Industry bidders to provide a replacement for the 9mm Beretta M9 have been confirmed.
The US PEO Soldier told Shephard that there are at least eight contenders for the Modular Handgun System (MHS) XM17 programme.
This include: Beretta, FN Herstal, Sig Sauer, H&K, STI International-Detonics Defense, Smith & Wesson with General Dynamics, KRISS USA, and possibility others.
MHS XM17 is taking a different approach in that it calls on bidders to provide not only the pistol but to propose the ammunition. Following a series of four industry days the Request for Proposal was issued on 28 August 2015 with
