AUSA 2014: MTC presents mortar and rocket steering system
Israeli company MTC Industries & Research will display its steering unit for mortars and rockets at the AUSA Annual exhibition in Washington.
The firm has developed the unit to improve the guidance of mortar and rocket munitions in any weather conditions steering it towards its intended target and is designed to reduce collateral damage to civilians.
This capability is important particularly when operating in built-up areas such as those in the Gaza strip, where the Israeli military have been engaged in recent months.
According to MTC, the precision-guided system improves accuracy to a hit-rate of 70% therefore requiring fewer mortar
