ALLTEC and Rafael seal MoU for add-on armour
Brazilian company ALLTEC Composite Material has signed an MoU with Rafael Advanced Defense Systems to cooperate on business opportunities to supply passive add-on armour solutions to the Brazilian MoD.
Israel-based Rafael noted in a 10 March announcement that it will collaborate with ALLTEC on the supply of passive add-on armour solutions from STANAG Level 4 and above, with ‘maximum local [Brazilian] industrial content’.
The agreement also covers maintenance and life cycle support, Rafael added. Its add-on reactive and passive armour defends against anti-tank rockets, small firearms and armour-piercing projectiles, as well as high-speed explosive fragments.
ALLTEC is already contracted to provide add-on ballistic protection kits — including ceramic add-on armour — for the Guarani VBTP-MR 6x6 vehicle (pictured) used by the Brazilian Army.
