Airshow China: missile proliferation at Zhuhai
Missiles occupied an important place at the 10th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition in Zhuhai from 11-16 November, with a prominent missile house displaying new systems.
One of these was the QW-19 man-portable air defence system (MANPADS) from the China Aerospace Science Industrial Corporation (CASIC).
The system, which is still in development, is an evolution of the existing QW-18 missile, but a key difference is that it boasts a new digital seeker that is more immune to jamming.
The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has not adopted QW-series systems, so it will be destined for export.
