ADEX 2017: Hyundai Rotem makes WAVs
Hyundai Rotem showed off two company-funded versions of its 8x8 Wheeled Armoured Vehicle (WAV) family at the Seoul ADEX 2017 exhibition.
The two new vehicles were peacekeeping operation (PKO) and medical evacuation types. The former boasted an EOS remote-controlled weapon station (RWS) fitted with a 30mm cannon. It can carry nine infantrymen in addition to two crewmen.
Yong-Cheol Shin, a principal research engineer at Hyundai Rotem, said the PKO version will have heavier protection with a V-shaped hull and STANAG Level 4 protection for the external hull. Shin expected an order from the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) for such
