SAFE Boats International has received an order worth approximately $3.89 million from the US Coast Guard (USCG) for nine Over-the-Horizon (OTH)-IV cutter boats, the USCG announced on 1 June.

Deliveries of the boats are expected to begin in October 2016.

Four of the new OTH-IV boats will go to fast response cutters that are currently in production. The remaining five will be used by medium endurance cutters and other training and operational commands.

The OTH-IV boat deploys from USCG cutters, transporting boarding teams to vessels of interest. It has a top speed of 40kts and length of 26ft, with more seating, higher speeds and more cargo space than the preceding OTH-III.

The cutter boats are compatible with stern and side-davit launch and recovery systems.
