USAF orders Mini Crypto devices
Viasat has received a low rate initial production order from the US Air Force to provide 1,000 National Security Agency-certified Mini Crypto devices.
Viasat's Mini Crypto devices are designed to be embedded on small factor systems, such as UAS, UGVs, communications devices, and existing and emerging sensors, allowing them to transmit Secret and Below data securely. The device will enable forward-deployed soldiers to secure these systems in extremely hostile environments, ensuring that tactical communications and data exchanges remain safe and secure.
Mini Crypto devices provide high levels of security; as they are embedded and have a self-contained encryption engine capable of generating their own keys, they are not required to undergo the same special handling as other security devices.
First deliveries of the systems are expected during the third quarter of Viasat's fiscal year.
