Selex Galileo of Finmeccanica announces the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ATMOS Sistemas (ATMOS) of Brazil. The MoU marks the beginning of a relationship between Selex Galileo, key player in the Defense Electronic market, and ATMOS Sistemas and outlines the way for the collaboration in airborne AESA radar support and development. Initial focus will be on the Raven ES-05 AESA fire control radar for the Saab Gripen NG, which is competing strongly in the Brazilian Air Force new fighter programme, and on aircraft future configurations.

Parties are already working to define the best collaboration route forward, in line with the Brazilian Government requirements and budgets and operational aspirations of the Brazilian MoD. The MoU will include technology transfer, work share and cooperative development.

Leveraging on the joint work done by Selex Galileo and Saab on Raven ES-05 for Gripen NG, the MoU opens now a real opportunity for Selex Galileo/ATMOS cooperative development of future capabilities of the radar such as new air to air/ground modes and miniature receivers.

In parallel to the Raven activities Selex Galileo and ATMOS have agreed to work closely on other AESA radar types. The partnership with ATMOS will include the complete range of Selex Galileo AESA radar in order to provide the partnership with the ability to address Brazilian Government requirements for UAS and fixed/rotary wing aircraft.

Selex Galileo and ATMOS will also seek to partner with Brazilian Government research organisations and Universities in AESA research and development.
