The UK Air Force has significantly advanced its satellite intelligence capabilities with the successful launch of the Carbonite-2 satellite terminal.
Providing the service with detailed imagery and 3D colour video footage, the demonstrator satellite, developed by Surrey Satellite Technology (SSTL), a subsidiary of Aribus Space and Defence, received recent investment from the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD).
Speaking at SSTL on 1 March, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Stephen Hillier, announced the MoD invested £4.5 million in the programme eight months ago and is now successfully receiving high-quality imagery and video footage.
