Leonardo sets its sights on E-scan radar prototype testing

The newest electronically scanning radar, Grifo-E, developed by manufacturer Leonardo, is set to undergo a series of prototype tests by the end of 2019.

The company has a number of options available at this stage for testing, but a helicopter will be used for troubleshooting purposes before a dedicated aircraft is used to perform flight trials, according to Federico Scannapieco, SVP radar and advanced targeting at Leonardo.
