Africa SATCOMs restricted
African nations have a fundamental issue with ground infrastructure that is holding the region back from full SATCOM capabilities.
While SATCOMs, commercial or military, can offer a solution to communication problems across Africa the ground network is not sufficiently advanced enough to be able to utilise any capability that might become available.
Speaking on a panel at the Global MilSatcom conference in London, Mark Lambert, MD at Advantech Wireless said: ‘Ultimately cost is holding Africa back, industry needs to work on how we can develop solutions that can be acceptable to the costs that African nations can afford.’
