DARPA eyes low-earth orbit for Blackjack programme

The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is seeking a range of proposals for a new programme that will build a constellation of small, inexpensive satellites, with contributions sought from companies that have no previous experience in the space domain, as well as established providers. 

 A Broad Agency Announcement for the Blackjack programme was issued in April. The agency is currently in the source selection process for the first solicitation associated with the programme, with additional solicitations planned for the coming months, stated Paul Thomas, DARPA program manager for Blackjack.
