Australia is looking to improve its presence in space with a focus on communications and creating a dedicated segment of its defence forces committed to the domain.
According to a 6 January 2015 release, Aselsan has completed delivery of its ASUR Mobile Border Security System to the Uruguayan Army.
The system, which forms part of the Uruguay Border Monitoring System Project (UBOMS), features sensors and units integrated into army vehicles.
The solution uses the Aselsan ACAR surveillance radar and EO system to conduct surveillance under any weather conditions. It can be controlled from within the vehicle and monitored from a remote security management centre.
ASUR Mobile provides users with critical capabilities, such as target detection/recognition, target classification, multi/single target traction, target coordinate estimation and situational awareness of the tactical field on a digital map.
