AOC 2011: Libya presents key EW issues

Operation Ellamy, the Royal Air Force's (RAF's) contribution to the wider NATO mission in Libya, highlighted some important lessons in the realm of electronic warfare (EW), a senior service official has admitted.

According to Wg Cdr Rick Adams, head of air platform protection at the RAF's HQ Air Command, Op Ellamy was the most 'significant' event in the last 10 to 20 years for EW operations.

'We learnt some important lessons and it was a very graphic demonstration of some key issues,' Adams told delegates at the Association of Old Crows (AOC) conference in Washington, DC on 14 November.
