Spain bets on national industry to improve defence capacities
The Spanish MoD is pushing for the national defence industry to drive improvements in the capabilities of the armed forces. During the webinar ‘Strategic Framework for Industrial Spain 2030', held on 24 February, defence authorities highlighted the need for closer cooperation between the MoD and Spanish industry.
Maj Gen José Luis Murga Martínez, deputy director for planning, technology and innovation in the MoD National Armaments Directorate, stressed the role of the national industry in the development of dual-use equipment.
In his opinion, this presents a clear opportunity to complement military activity with civilian projects and foster collaboration.
