Jury out on Qatari F-35 deal but UK links strengthen
A reported request from Qatar to buy F-35 aircraft from the US government has drawn fierce opposition from Israel but whether a deal can be reached still remains uncertain.
If a FMS is under consideration by the Trump Administration, it is not something that official sources are prepared to confirm – a stance that continues to leave developments open to interpretation.
‘As a matter of policy, we decline to comment on potential or pending arms transfers before they are formally notified to Congress,’ a US State Department spokesperson said.
