Opinion: Winds of change in Whitehall
Change is afoot in Whitehall, as Air Chief Marshal Stuart Peach hands over as chief of the defence staff (CDS) to General Nick Carter. This early departure, after less than two years in the post, comes at a period of almost unprecedented challenge for the UK MoD and armed forces. Peach will move to NATO, to take on the role of chairman of the NATO Military Committee.
