The increasing geopolitical competition of the digital world powers - US and China- requires Europe to unleash its own innovative forces to preserve multilateralism in a multipolar world.

The European defence industry has a particular role to play in this context. By promoting start-ups and SMEs in the European defence industry, Europe can make a fair contribution to the security and resilience of its citizens and institutions in the digital age. 

Digitisation offers the European militaries the opportunity to massively increase their ability to assert themselves in all dimensions (air, land, sea, cyber and information as well as space).
