Dillon Aerospace develops new gatling gun
Dillon Aerospace is developing a new three-barrel, .50 calibre gatling gun, with the first prototype nearing completion, the company told Shephard.
The 503D will be aimed at the same markets as the company’s M134D weapon, said Director of Engineering Steve Estep, with the weapon capable of being mounted on airborne, land, and naval platforms.
The gun will be ‘lighter, faster and smarter’, Estep said. It will fire 1,500 shots per minute (SPM), with ‘precise firing rate control allowing SPM to be adjusted per platform integration to optimise for mission and performance’, he added. The gun is designed to
