AN/APR-39D(V)2 to be installed on seven types

Northrop Grumman Corporation has received a $91 million contract from the DoD for additional production of AN/APR-39D(V)2 digital RWR units.

It is planned for integration on the following platforms: AH-1Z Viper, AH-64E Apache Guardian, RO-6A Airborne Reconnaissance Low-Enhanced, MV-22 Osprey (pictured), UH-1Y Venom, CH-53E Super Stallion and CH-53K King Stallion.

The all-digital, multi-channel AN/APR-39D(V)2 monitors a 360° field of coverage to protect rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft from modern RF threats such as radar-guided missiles and anti-aircraft artillery, Northrop Grumman noted on 29 October.

AN/APR-39D(V)2 can automatically initiate optimal defensive measures and has an immediate growth capability for RF countermeasures.

‘As the radio frequency threat grows worldwide, the protection the AN/APR-39D(V)2 provides has become essential for our warfighters and international partners,’ said Ryan Tintner, vice-president for navigation, targeting and surveillance at Northrop Grumman.
