Sikorsky awarded CH-53K configuration change work
Lockheed Martin’s Sikorsky will carry out CH-53K configuration changes required for initial operational test and evaluation for lot 1 low rate initial production aircraft.
The company received a $12 million contract modification for the work from US Naval Air Systems Command on 20 November.
The CH-53K helicopter has been designed to provide the US Marine Corps with a range of heavy lift capabilities, including moving troops and equipment from ship to shore, and to higher altitude terrain, quickly and effectively.
Work will be complete in January 2022.
