QuadA2012: Columbia expands MRO capability

Columbia Helicopters (CHI) expects to gain US Army approval for its new T55-714 engine test cell in coming months, allowing the company to provide complete engine overhaul of CH-47 Chinooks.

Speaking at the Quad A exhibition in Nashville, Scott Ellis, CHI’s director of business development, said the new test cell at the company's maintenance headquarters at Aurora, Oregon would allow the company to provide ‘nose-to-tail’ Chinook maintenance.

‘We are waiting on US Army product approval which should be completed sometime in the mid-to-late summer. We already have engines there lined up ready to go,’ Ellis told Shephard.
