By the end of the year, the Sikorsky-Boeing team still expect to have their SB-1 Defiant helicopter in the air.

Speaking with reporters 26 April during the Army Aviation Association of America's annual conference, the two companies discussed programme delays and the path ahead for Defiant.

To date, the aircraft is nearly 80% complete and the team expects to have the aircraft completed in the September timeframe, said Richard Koucheravy, Sikorsky's director of business development for FVL.

From there, they said the ground testing phase will be expedited since they have been using a simulator in a lab.
