Leonardo secures lucrative AW169M order from Austria

Leonardo has beaten off stiff competition from Airbus and Bell to win a €300 million ($349 million) contract for 18 AW169M multirole helicopters from Austria.

The aircraft was selected ahead of two light twin platforms – the Bell 429 and H145M - as it represented the best option for Vienna from a ‘government-to government’ perspective, according to a spokesperson for the Austrian MoD.
