Hughes builds momentum on SATCOM helicopter campaign

Satellite network provider Hughes Defense is preparing for a new customer flight demonstration involving the company’s HeloSat SATCOM system and a high-definition EO/IR payload equipped on a UH-60A Black Hawk.

The addition of the high-definition EO/IR payload was specifically requested by a number of customers and will allow the company to better demonstrate military type scenarios to operators watching from a live video stream.

The test is scheduled for 29 June and follows a similar HeloSat demonstration in Tullahoma, Tennessee, involving prospective customers from the US DoD, Spain, the UAE and India, where a XP Services UH-60A helicopter using
