Norway outlines MCM fleet reduction

Norway could reduce its mine-countermeasure fleet from six vessels to four, while maintaining five crews on rotation to maintain availability.

The news was announced last week in the Long Term Defence Plan published by the Norwegian Ministry of Defence (MoD). In general the long term plan called for an increased budget across the armed forces that initially would focus on reducing a spares and maintenance gap, but in future add a number of new capabilities.
