L-3 WESCAM celebrates 1,000th delivery milestone with UK MoD
L-3 WESCAM, a wholly owned subsidiary of L-3 Communications, announced today that it has delivered its 1,000th MX Series electro-optic/infrared (EO/IR) imaging turret to the Defence Equipment Support at the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (UK MoD). The MX-15 will be installed on a Merlin HM Mk1.
WESCAM MX systems are currently installed on 10 different UK MoD platforms, including the Nimrod MR Mk2, Sea King and Gazelle, supporting the UK MoD missions throughout the UK, Iraq and Afghanistan.
“The MX-15 significantly enhances the tactical commander’s situational awareness in today’s complex battlespace,” said Commander Gordon RN, Directorate of Joint Capabilities, Joint Manoeuvre 4. “Whether operating in support of Special or Conventional Forces, the MX-15 has proven to be a true force multiplier and is now generally accepted as the system of choice by those who rely on real-time, high-definition images to succeed on operations.”
L-3 WESCAM will be showcasing its latest edition to the MX Series, the MX-10, at the Paris Air Show Hall 4, Booth B-15 and Chalet-C207. Other gimbals in the MX Series are the MX-15, MX-15i, MX-15D, MX-15HDi, MX-20, MX-20D and MX-20HD.
