FIDAE 2016: Peru’s billion dollar shopping spree

The Peruvian Air Force has set out ambitious plans to modernise its air force over the next five years with one of the main aims being to revamp its ageing fleet of Russian transport aircraft.

Lt Gen Raul Hoyos de Vinatea, the director general of logistics for the Fuerza Aérea del Perú (FAP), spoke to Shephard about his acquisition plans for the service including bolstering its medium lift capabilities.

It is thought that the FAP is investing as much as $1.5 billion in revitalising its fleet over the next five years.
