China’s Z-20 gets its first public airings

The Z-20 helicopter manufactured by the Harbin Aircraft Industry Group – but clearly copied from the Sikorsky S-70 Black Hawk – has enjoyed a flurry of public outings in recent weeks. Its first appearance was at the 70th anniversary flypast on Beijing on 1 October, followed by the 5th China Helicopter Exposition in Tianjin a week later.

Equipped with indigenous engines and five rotor blades, the medium-lift Z-20 is optimised for flights in the high plateau areas of China. It is thought that the twin turboshafts installed in the Z-20 are the WZ10, which produces 2,400shp.
