AUSA Aviation 2011: Army on track with Apache Block III

The US Army's first Apache AH-64D Block III will be delivered in October, following the programme's recertified after a Nunn-McCurdy breach in 2010, army officials confirmed in the run-up to the AUSA Aviation conference.

The Nunn-McCurdy legislation requires the US Department of Defense to continually estimate the cost of programmes and compare it to the estimate of the cost when the programme began. The addition of extra Apaches to the programme because of the decision to stand up a 13th Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) led to the breach and the need for recertification.
