AUVSI 2016: A big hit for V-Bat (video)

Texas-based Martin UAV showcased a unique VTOL UAV design at this year's AUVSI Xponential in New Orleans, which it calls V-Bat.

While some manufacturers have chosen a quadcopter-style design to enable fixed-wing VTOL flight, Martin UAV has opted for a ducted-fan configuration that it says can fly for eight hours with a 5lb payload.

Shephard spoke to Blake Sawyer about the design and what he thinks the advantages are over other products currently emerging in the market.
